The Perfect Hero's Journey
Many have pointed this out, including at least 2 different college professors of mine, but this first installment closely follows the mythological hero's journey. It goes through all the steps of what makes a hero, well, a hero! The call to action, the rejection of the call, crossing of the threshold, and all the others. If you're interested in the history and structure of storytelling, I'd suggest looking into it. It's fairly interesting.
And if you don't want to analyze the storytelling of this movie, that's ok too. Why? Because it's also a movie that you can easily sit down and just watch for fun. It's got laser swords, spaceships, and one of the most iconic and lovable casts in cinema history. What's not to like?
I've met very few people who don't like this movie, even if they didn't watch it when they were younger like I did. There is no reason I can think of not to watch this absolute classic.
