Perhaps my favorite offering from Marvel

I'm not normally a big animated movie buff, but this series speaks to me. The art direction is a strong point, but strong art would be wasted if the writing and dialogue weren't top-notch. Truly, these movies have an emotional weight that few animated movies (or superhero movies) have been able to achieve. I just wish we didn't have to wait so long between movies.

More mature than the first one

Just as visually stunning as the first film, this one is more mature. The characters and the story are more interesting to follow.

It ends on a cliffhanger I didn't see coming, and I really want to see what happens next.

A must-see animated film

Continuing one of the best origin stories, Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse manages to pull off the feat of keeping the very high standards of the first installment. A true work of art that pays tribute to the original material, while also developing rich characters and themes (parenthood, teenage unhappiness, and the difficulties of finding your place...)
One of the best superhero movies (if not the best) and simply a must-see film... until the third installment in 2027... hopefully! (no kidding, okay😉)

Stunning in Every Way

It took me way too long to watch this, and when I finally did, it lived up to every expectation. The visuals, the writing, the acting, all of it was as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen it.

Everything good about the first movie is still here. Miles’ character growth, the different artstyles blending together, the humor, and a multiverse plot that’s actually interesting! The countless references to other Spider-Man media never feel obtrusive, either, but they’re there and really fun for those who get them. Also they got Yuri Lowenthal and Josh Keaton back which makes me unreasonably happy.

You’ve probably seen countless memes about this movie, and if you’ve yet to see it, it’s probably been spoiled for you by now. I am telling you, watch it anyway. It is so, so worth it, even just for how gorgeous it looks.

Okay, Let's Do This One More Time

Like its predecessor, Across the Spiderverse is a love letter to the Spider-Man mythos. The animation is somehow even better than the first film, and the soundtrack is just incredible (side note: give self love by metro booming a listen). I did find the story struggling in some places. While I did enjoy Gwen’s plot, it did make the film seem simultaneously crowded and underdeveloped, given Miles’ story still needed time to flourish. Their stories ultimately gel together, it just seemed to take a while to get there. That being said, I did appreciate the greater exploration into the characters and spiderverse in general and am eagerly awaiting the release of Beyond the Spiderverse.

Lives up to the well-deserved hype!

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is an incredible sequel and, along with Into The Spider-Verse, are some of my favorite movies. The animation is absolutely jaw-dropping, packed with some of the best visual spectacle I’ve seen in years. Sony completely nailed it again, delivering heart, style, and nonstop energy. Very fun, looking forward to Beyond the Spider-Verse with bated breath!
