When Netflix launched its corner of the Marvel universe, Daredevil set the register for everything that followed: darker, slower, more willing to let a fight scene cost something. The hallway sequence in the second episode became one of those rare television moments that people describe to strangers.
Charlie Cox plays Matt Murdock with a physical commitment that grounds the show even when the plotting strains. The series earns its violence by making it exhausting rather than elegant.
The Concept
Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer by day in Hell's Kitchen, a neighborhood the show renders as perpetually rain-soaked and morally compromised. By night, he operates as a masked vigilante with heightened senses, working cases the legal system cannot or will not touch. The tension between those two identities, one bound by rules and the other by conscience, drives the first season.

Best Marvel Show EVER
Daredevil is my favorite television show of all time.
From its very first episode, Daredevil shows that it's not like any other Marvel television show, it's dark, it's gritty, and it shows the horrors of underground criminal organizations.
It tackles subjects of morality, religion, what's right and wrong, in some of the best ways I've ever seen. The fact that Matthew Murdock is a religious lawyer who believes in the good of humanity and the justice system, also dresses up as a Devil and enacts vigilante justice is one of the most inspired and interesting things you could do with a character of his nature, and is acted to ABSOLUTE perfection by Charlie Cox.
And you can't mention Matt without also mentioning the two people closest to him, Franklin "Foggy" Nelson and Karen Page.
Foggy Nelson is Matt's best friend, and partner in crime as the two of them work at their own independent law firm "Nelson & Murdock". He is often the person who helps ground Matt when he's in over his head and serves as a moral compass of sorts.
Then there's Karen Page, who on the surface is just the love interest, but evolves into so much more. At the start of the series, she is convicted of murder through a dubious set up and requires assistance to clear her name. She starts slightly dependent on those around her, but evolves into her own very strong character, and her relationship with both Foggy as well as Matt is complex and full of realistic ups and downs that make the low moments crushing, but the high moments hit hard.
Lastly I want to touch on the overarching villain of the series being Wilson Fisk, excellently portrayed by Vincent Donofrio.
Fisk on the surface seems like a generic underground mob boss, however when seeing his backstory and then watching his complex relationship with Vanessa unfold, you realize there's so much more to him than that. Even when he isn't the main driving force of the conflict, he's always scheming in the background. There are genuine nail biting moments where you don't know how he can even be stopped.
Honestly I'd love to dive into more detail, but then this would be thousands of words long, and I really don't want to spoil the show in case someone hasn't seen it.
On a plot level this series is near perfect, with Seasons 2 and 4 being the clear weak links that drag the series ever so slightly down, but it's not like they're devoid of merit as they also have some very high highs, particularly Season 2 with the introduction of the Punisher.
Character-Wise, this show I'd say is just about flawless, with every major character serving a clear point to the story, and having meaningful character arcs.
The acting as well is some of the best you'll see out there, particularly from Charlie Cox and Vincent Donofrio.
10/10 highly recommend, you won't be disappointed if you check this show out.
