Wait for the Finale...

Martyrs is a solid fantasy novel, driven more by its intricate plots, political machinations, and morally complex characters than by epic action scenes or all-powerful heroes. While the story does include fantastical elements (this is fantasy after all, not a geopolitical treatise), they serve more as a backdrop than the main attraction.

Let's be clear though, Martyrs is not the "French Game of Thrones" that some might have hoped for. It has fewer plotlines, fewer charismatic or detestable characters, and less darkness overall. In short, it lacks ambition.

Despite this, Martyrs remains an enjoyable read,well-written and occasionally gripping. As a bonus, it's beautifully packaged with illustrations by the author himself that enhance the immersive quality of the book.
