The original idea is still good, but...
Not to mention the director putting himself into the show seemingly to air his grievances with the Ladybug fandom criticizing or critiquing his hot mess of a show 😂
It introduces interesting ideas, then seems to lose track of them almost immediately.
It leans WAY too heavily on a single high school girl causing 95% of the problems episode over episode (seriously- the show forces Chloe to never be able to leave, grow, or develop as a character because the plot would fall apart without her mean-girl schtick. Despite this, it introduces several episodes where she tries to do just that… and it abandons the premise almost immediately every time .
And while the central love square is iconic, it can also get pretty exhausting to sit through. Especially when they keep playing hokey pokey with the progress of this relationship. They rewind time and/or McGuffin away any progress, ladybug and Chat noir make in their relationship multiple times.
There’s definitely charm here, but it often feels buried under inconsistency. The characters are fun though.
I honestly think it would have been better just being 1 or 2 seasons of the original 2D animated, for older audiences, anime. Unfortunately, it’s the current state is a cash grabby pale imitator to its former self.
